Sunday mornings - my favourite day of the week, especially in the summer.  I get up at the usual time - 6:00 a.m. - and enjoy the quiet time as Paleo Grandad likes to sleep in.  I can try a recipe that takes more time then I have during the week.  this morning it was french toast made with Paleo bread and sausage.

Part of my daily routine is to see what is new with the Paleo blogs I follow - about a dozen of them.  They all have a different focus and style, but they all provide recipes.  When I first found Paleo one of the things I thought was great was all the recipes for "normal" foods, like Paleo muffins, Paleo pancakes, Paleo brownies, Paleo ice cream - you get the idea.  So the first several months of eating Paleo included a lot of Paleo treats.  A couple of pumpkin muffins a day, and a sweet Paleo treat after dinner every night.  One of our favourite after dinner treats was full-fat Greek yogurt with a splash of maple syrup and a sprinkle of slivered almonds - so tasty - but so not good for us.

Paleo Grandad is is extremely lactose intolerant, but the yogurt didn't seem to have the usual lactose reaction for him.  The combination bothered me, but not all the time, and my eczema seemed to get worse so I decided for both of us that we should eliminate dairy but, unfortunately, that just meant we upped the number of Paleo treats we were having.

Who likes change? Put up your hand!

Yesterday was Day 30 of the Whole30 and the motivational/check-in email asks you to evaluate how you did - did you meet your goals for the month?  My goal was to see how clean my diet was and if being even stricter about what I ate would make a difference and the answer is "Yes - I did."  I dropped one dress size and my shape has changed so my clothes fit better, I am sleeping better and I barely notice the arthritis I have in my hands, feet, arms and back.  Normally, it takes about ten pounds to lose a dress size as a rule of thumb.  In this case, I dropped 2 pounds and a dress size, proving you can't judge your health by the number on the scale.

So - am I glad I did it?  Yes, definitely - I learned more about how what I eat makes me feel, and I learned that I really enjoy simple food.  Would I do it again?  I still have some health issues, eczema and sleep issues, so I am going to continue for another couple of weeks at least, incorporating some of the recommendations for autoimmune problems.  Paleo Grandad, who was not doing the Whole30 100%, was obviously glad to get off the plan as seen by the Mr. Big chocolate bar on the grocery bill from yesterday!  You can lead a old horse...

Day 26

I love coming home to Paleo surprises after a long day at work.  I guess technically they are not surprises as I ordered them but still it is nice when they actually arrive.

Yesterday the Lunchbots I had ordered a couple of weeks ago from the U.S.  There are some children's clothing stores in the Lower Mainland that carry them - not sure why just children's stores, I think they are great for adults who take there lunch to work everyday too.  After going through multiple glass food containers that chip and plastic containers that aren't good for you, the Lunchbots seemed like a good solution.  I got three different types;  the Lunchbot Uno, Lunchbot Duo and Lunchbot Trio.  I also got three dip/condiment containers.  All the containers are made of stainless steel.
